Shamrock Luck

This tutorial was written by me on March 7, 2021. The results are of my own imagination.  Any resemblance to another tutorial is purely coincidental.

Please DO NOT claim this tutorial as your own.

This was written assuming you have a working knowledge of PS.

Please keep in mind that I write the tutorial as I am creating it.

Sometimes I may not explain properly where to place things so please see my example if you are ever in doubt :)

Supplies needed

I am using Adobe Photoshop 2021 but this tutorial should work with any version.

You can download the 7 day trial of PS here.

PTU Tube:  I am using Misticheskaya's beautiful tube "Patriccia".  This beauty is a bonus tube for February loyalty customers.  Please do not use this tube without a proper license. You can purchase her beautiful tubes here.
You can purchase Misticheskaya's tubes here.

PTU Kit:  I am using a gorgeous kit called "Shamrock Luck" created by Hania's Design.  You can purchase her beautiful kit here.

Mask:  29 by Vivienne's Paintbox. Thank you for your awesome masks.  You can download them from her blog here. I am using the jpg versions for this tutorial.

Font of choice for your name.

Plug in: None

Drop shadow of choice.

Please read all the Artist's/Designer's TOU.

To open an image, I click on the element or paper in the file folder and drag it into PS.

To transfer an element or paper in PS to my tag, I left click and drag it into my working canvas.
The other way is to left click and drag the element from the folder right onto your tag.

Either way you will get the same results but the resizing will be different :).  I will be using the both method for this tutorial.

For resizing and rotating I use the Ctrl+T command.

To mirror or Flip go to Edit>Transform>Flip Horizontal (mirror) or Flip vertical (Flip).

Remember to save often.

Let's get started.

Open a new 800x800 transparent image.  We will resize later.

Go to layers, New fill layer, solid color.  When the pop up window appears type in FFFFFF and click ok.

Drag paper of choice into the tag.  I am using paper 7.  Click the check mark.

Drag Vivienne's mask 29 into your tag.  Pull on the corners until it fills the top and bottom of the canvas. Click the check mark.  Don't worry about the sides as we will fix this.
Select the paper layer and add a new layer.  Flood fill the new layer with black.  Now hold down the Ctrl key and select the mask layer.  Both layers should be selected (mask layer and flood fill layer).
Right click and select merge layers.  You now have a mask layer that fills the canvas.  Close the original mask.

Standing on the mask layer, click on Channels tag in the layer pallet.  You will see four layers.  We are going to work with the RGB layer.

Holding down the Ctrl key, click on the thumb nail of the RGB layer.  Once you see the marching ants, select the Layers tab in the layers pallet.

Select the paper layer and go to Layers>Layer Mask>Reveal selection.  You will notice a mask thumbnail on the paper icon.  We want this.

Now select the original mask layer above the paper layer and delete it.

Select the paper thumbnail in the layers pallet.  Hit Ctrl + T on the keyboard and resize by 70%.  Move to the top left of the canvas.  Duplicate this layer and move to the bottom right of the canvas.

Drag element 52 into the tag.  Resize 20% move to the middle left of the top mask.  Duplicate and move down and to the right slightly.

Drag element 55 into the tag.  Resize 14% move to the top left of the mask.

Drag wordart 5 into the tag.  Resize 12% move to the top of the tree.

Drag element 76 into the tag.  Resize 10% move to the right of the tree.

Drag element 19 into the tag.  Resize 16% move to the far left of the tree.  Duplicate.  Drag this layer just above the wordart layer.  Move to the top right of the wordart.

Select the top layer.

Drag element 92 into the tag.  Resize 18% move to the left of the tree.  Duplicate and drag this layer under element 76.  Move to the lower left of element 76.

Select the top layer.

Drag element 44 into the tag.  Resize 18% move to the top of the tree.

Drag element 60 into the tag.  Resize 12% move to the bottom left of the house.

Drag element 26 into the tag.  Resize 10% move to the lower left of the house.

Drag element 106 into the tag.  Resize 13% move just above the watering can.

Drag element 72 into the tag.  Resize 12% move to the bottom left of the clover spray.

Drag element 110 into the tag.  Resize 15% move to the top of the bottom mask.  See my example for placement.

Select the layer under the frame.  Drag paper 1 into the tag and resize 9%.  Move the paper in the frame to a spot you like best.

Select the frame layer.  Using the magic wand, click inside the frame.  Select>Modify>Expand by 3.

Select the paper layer.  Go to Layers, Layer Mask>Reveal selection.

Drag element 32 into the tag.  Resize 27% move to the bottom of the paper.

Holding down the Alt key, click on the mask thumbnail of the paper layer.  Still holding the Alt key, drag the mask up onto the water layer.  Let go of the Alt key.  You should have two mask layers.  One on the paper and one on the water.

Select the frame layer.

Drag element 10 into the tag.  Resize 16% move to the top of the frame.

Drag element 67 into the tag.  Resize 6% move to the right of the frame.

Drag element 64 into the tag.  Resize 8% move to the bottom left of the frame.

Drag element 62 into the tag.  Resize 7% move to the bottom of the lilacs.

Drag element 29 into the tag.  Resize 13% and move to the bottom of the frame.

Drag element 87 into the tag.  Resize 16% and move to the bottom left of the frame.

Drag element 48 into the tag.  Resize 13% and move to the bottom right of the frame.

Drag element 83 into the tag.  Resize 10% and move to the bottom center of element 87.

Drag the main tube into the tag.  Resize 20%, mirror and move to the bottom left of the frame.

Drag element 100 into the tag.  Resize 13% and move to the bottom of the tube.

Drag element 6 into the tag.  Resize 8% and move to the lower right of the mask.

Drag element 4 into the tag.  Resize 17% and move to the top left of the frame.

Drag element 31 into the tag.  Resize 13% and move to the bottom right of the mask.

Drag element 40 into the tag.  Resize 6% and move to the bottom left of the element 31.

Drag element 37 into the tag.  Resize 13% and move to the bottom left of the element 31.

Drag element 42 into the tag.  Resize 8% and move to the bottom left of the element 31.

Add any other elements you like and make any adjustments to the layers.

Crop away any extra space.

Image, Image Size and resize 650 on the longest side.

Oh almost forgot we need to drop shadow all of our elements.  I actually do the drop shadow at the end :)

Select the element on the bottom of your tag in the layer pallet and double click it.

A layer style window will pop up.  Click on Drop shadow. and use the following settings.

Now right click on the layer you just applied the drop shadow.  Click copy layer style.

Now click on the layer above and hold down the shift key, select the layer under the paper layer.  Right click and paste layer styles.

Select the Frame layer, holding down the shift key, select the top layer.  Right click and paste layer styles.  Drop shadow complete :)

Add your copyright and name.

Hide the white background layer Save your tag and export as png.

I hope you have enjoyed my tutorial.  I would love to see your results.
