FTU: A hint of Goth
This tutorial was written by me on July 2, 2018. The results are of my own imagination. Any resemblance to another tutorial is purely coincidental.
Please DO NOT claim this tutorial as your own.
This was written assuming you have a working knowledge of PSP.
Please keep in mind that I write the tutorial as I am creating it.
Sometimes I may not explain properly where to place things so please see my example if you are ever in doubt :)
Supplies needed:
Programs, PSP of choice. I am using PSP 2018. Animation Shop (Optional).
I am using Verymany's "Queen of Shadows". Please do not use this tubes without a proper license. You can purchase it at Verymany's Store here.
FTU Kit: I am using an awesome kit called "A Hint of Goth" created by Mizteeque. You can download the kit from her blog here.
Mask: Mask 48. Created by Vivienne's Paintbox. You can download it here. Scroll down, left click on the mask to enlarge it then right click and save as. Open and minimize in PSP.
Fog Animation by Scrappy Bit of Fun (Optional). I used the second fog. You can download it here. If you are going to animate, open the animation in psp and duplicate (shift + D) Select the top layer, Layers, new layer group. You will notice it is slightly indented. Select the layer below and drag this layer just under the indent layer. You will notice you now have 2 indented layers. Repeat until all the layers are in the group.
Font of choice for your name.
Plug in: None
I am using a drop shadow (D/S) of V 0 H 5, Opacity 75, blur 10, color black throughout the tutorial unless otherwise stated.
Let's get started.
Open a new 750x800 transparent image and flood fill it with white. We will resize later.
Add a new raster layer and select all. Open paper of choice, I used paper 7, copy and close the original. Select the new layer and edit, paste into selections. Select none. Layers, new mask layer, from image. In the drop down find Vivienne's mask 48 and click ok. Merge group and resize 95%. You can now close out the original mask as we no longer need it.
Open element 29, copy and close the original. Paste as a new layer and resize 70%. Move to the top center and drop shadow.
Open element 21, copy and close the original. Select the top layer and paste. Resize 50% and duplicate. On the duplicate, mirror, and flip. Move over the original and merge down. Duplicate again. Move one to the upper right and the other to the left about halfway down. Drop shadow each layer.
Open element 53, copy and close the original. Select the top layer and paste. Resize 70% and move to the upper middle. Using your magic wand, click inside each opening on the window. Selections, modify, expand by 5. Add a new raster layer and move under the stone window. Open paper of choice. I am using paper 6, copy and close the original. Standing on the new raster layer, Edit, paste into selections. Select none and drop shadow the stone window and merge down to the paper layer.
Open your tube, copy and close the original. Select the top layer and paste. Resize 43% and move up and to the right. Drop shadow.
Open element 44, copy and close the original. Select the top flower cluster and paste. Resize 60% and move to the left and up slightly so it peeks out from behind the stone window. Duplicate and mirror. Move down and to the right so it peeks out from behind the tube. Drop shadow each layer.
Open element 52, copy and close the original. Select the stone window layer and paste. Resize 40% and move to the right middle so it shows behind her back. Drop shadow.
Open element 38, copy and close the original. Select the stone window layer and paste. Resize 65% and move to the bottom center. Drop shadow.
Open element 7, copy and close the original. Select the stone window layer and paste. Resize 70% and move to the left side of the window. Duplicate and move to the right so it is behind the clock and tube. Drop shadow each layer.
Open element 66, copy and close the original. Select the layer under the clock and paste. Resize 45%, image free rotate to the left by 90 degrees. Using your magic wand, click inside the frame. Selections, modify, expand by 5. Add a new raster layer under the frame. Open paper of choice. I am using paper 2, copy and close the original. Standing on the new raster layer, edit, paste into selections. Keep Selected. Copy the close-up tube and paste as a new layer. Resize 45% and move into the frame. Selections, invert and hit delete on your keyboard. Select none and change the blend mode of the tube to soft light. Merge down to the paper layer. Drop shadow the frame and merge down. Image, free rotate to the left by 20 degrees and move slightly up and to the left. Resize by 95% and repeat.
Open element 16, copy and close the original. Select the frame layer and paste. Resize 20% and move to the bottom right corner of the frame. Duplicate and mirror. Move this layer above the tube layer and move the rose to the bottom right of the tube. Drop shadow each layer.
Open element 22, copy and close the original. Select the clock layer and paste. Resize 20% and move to the bottom right so it is between the clock and red rose. Duplicate and move to the top left of the frame. Resize 90% and reposition. Drop shadow each layer.
Open element 57, copy and close the original. Select the tube layer and paste. Resize 17% and move to the bottom left corner of the frame. Drop shadow.
Open element 61, copy and close the original. Select the tube layer and paste. Resize 25% and move to the bottom right. Drop shadow.
Open element 3, copy and close the original. Select the clock layer and paste. Resize 25% and move to the bottom left of the frame. Duplicate and mirror. Move to the right slightly. Drop shadow each layer.
Open element 2, copy and close the original. Select the layer under the tube, paste and resize 40%. Image, free rotate to the left 90 degrees and move behind the right side of the tube. Drop shadow.
Open element 8, copy and close the original. Select the skull layer and paste. Image, free rotate to the right by 90 degreesResize 70% and move to the bottom right so it covers the edge of the tube. Duplicate and move up slightly and to the left. Move this layer under the original. Drop shadow each layer.
Open element 18, copy and close the original. Select the skull layer and paste. Resize 30%, free rotate to the right 60 degrees. Move to the bottom right so the rose is covering part of her leg. Duplicate and mirror move slightly to the right. Drop shadow each layer.
Open element 34, copy and close the original. Select the rose layer just above the frame. Paste and resize 30%. Move to the bottom center of the frame. Drop shadow.
Open element 56, copy and close the original. Select the tube layer and paste. Resize 20% and move to the bottom center. Drop shadow.
Add any other elements you like.
If you are not going to animate, delete the white background and merge visible.
Crop, merge opaque.
Image resize 600 pixels on the longest side, all layers checked.
Adjust Sharpness, Unsharpen Mask, radius 1, clipping set to 2 and strength set to 50. Click ok.
If you are going to animate you will need to adjust sharpness on each layer.
Add your copyright and name. If you are not going to animate, save as png.
Animation:
Maximize the group animation. Select the top layer and resize 40%. Copy.
Select your tag.
Select the stone window layer and paste. Using the pick tool, move to the bottom left of the tag so it is behind the skull and frame. Paste again and move to the upper center of the stone window. Select the clock layer and paste again. Move to the right so it is covering the bottom of the clock. Make sure all layers are hidden except for the top group layer and the very bottom layer of the group. If it is easier for you to rename each layer in each group 1, 2, 3 etc.
With all layer ones visible, edit, copy special, copy merged. Go to animation shop and paste as a new animation. Ctrl + V Back to psp.
Hide layer one on all the animation and open layer two. Edit, copy special, copy merged. Back to animation shop. Paste after current frame or ctrl+shit+L
Repeat the above step until all of the animation frames have been copied and pasted in animation shop. You should have 14 frames. Save as gif.
I hope you have enjoyed my tutorial. I would love to see your results.
Hugs
